Approved Education 20 Part One
The Borstal and Approved School judicial system was prolific in Britain and her colonies for much of the 1920s to the 70s. Similar to the USA Juvenile Hall and Reformatory operations these institutions aimed to turn around a wayward youth with a set timetable, rigorous retraining and firm discipline. Most of these young offenders centres were run like strict schools and of course the inmates were permanent borders there. Some argue its what needed again today!
The first part features young inmate Underhill (Richard Hicks) He has managed to displease his Housemaster (Marco).
Underhill is taken by his ear to be taught a lesson.
The lad knows what to expect and is soon bending down to take a caning on his grey shorts.

As a lad when you are left at home to do some simple jobs but just sit around watching TV and playing computer games its bound to cause some friction. Unfortunately for one youngster he thought that’s what staying out was all about.

To be incarcerated in the House Of Correction in the 1900s almost certainly meant you’d be lucky to escape your time there without having received some form of corporal punishment. Bare bottom spanking the birch, rattan cane, tawse, switch and belt were all kept gainfully employed as punishment instruments in the on going correction of recalcitrant young lads. The punishment room was always a busy place!

Now the second scout (Robin Palmer is punished for his illegal fishing trip back at the scout hut.
